PREGNANCY YOGA

Rest, relax, reconnect

Whether you're brand new to yoga or returning to your mat, pregnancy is the perfect time to nurture your body and mind through this gentle practice. Yoga offers countless physical and emotional benefits that can help you feel more grounded and connected throughout your pregnancy.

Practising yoga while expecting supports your body through every stage of change, right up until birth. Studies show it can help ease anxiety and depression, reduce stress, and even support a smoother labour—potentially shortening its duration and increasing the likelihood of a vaginal birth with minimal intervention. And if you’re planning a caesarean birth, building strength and stability beforehand can ease your postnatal recovery.

And who knows? You might also discover a warm, supportive community of parents-to-be along the way.

Pregnancy yoga: About

The why

Connect with your baby

Pregnancy yoga is as much about moving for yourself as it is about bonding with your baby. Each class we slow down and breathe deeply. In time, the quiet space helps to tune in, bond, and become more aware of your baby’s movements and your body’s signals.

Relieves Aches and Pains

Pregnancy yoga gently stretches and strengthens muscles, easing all those niggly but common pregnancy discomforts such as lower back pain, tight hips, and swollen legs.

Get ready for birth

Yoga helps build strength and flexibility where you’ll need it most as our poses target the hips, pelvic floor and lower back helping you stay strong, balanced, and confident as your body changes. Getting to know and work with the parts of the body used during labour can make it easier for you and your baby when the time comes.

Interested? I am starting a six week pregnancy yoga course on 6th November at the Hoylake Parade Community Centre for mothers-to-be at all stages of pregnancy (and for partners if they'd like to join too).

If you've never been to a yoga class before, I know it can feel intimidating. I promise to offer a welcoming space where all levels, ages, bodies and questions are welcome.

If you don't think group classes are for you yet, I also teach private classes both in person and online.
